In the sample below, this is an email that contains some textual information. Suppose you would like to mark certain words in this email with a red pen. First, use the Shift + Arrow key to pick the text you wish to cross out (I’ve selected it below).

Once the text you want to cross out has been selected, pick the “Format Text” tab from the menu bar in this email window, as indicated below.

If you look closely at the front part of this format text tab, you will notice a strikethrough text icon, as shown in the highlighted area of the image below. This button allows you to strike through text so that it can be crossed out.

Your selected text will be crossed out when you click on this strikethrough symbol in the format text tab’s font section, as seen in the example below.

Step 1>
Assume for the moment that this is an example email with some text that we will be crossing out.
Step 2>
You must first choose the text that you wish to cross out before you can begin to cross it out. I’ve used the mouse to pick the text in the example below, but you can also use the Shift + Arrow keyboard shortcut to do the same.

After choosing a text to be crossed out in the upcoming email, click the drop-down menu button with your mouse. A drop-down menu with the option “Font” will open; click it to bring up the font dialogue box.

A new dialogue box with all text editing and formation options will emerge when you click on the font option. You can cross out text in an Outlook email by clicking the “Strikethrough” option, as indicated in the screenshot below if you locate these options.

This strikethrough button will indicate that it is checked to apply when you click on it. Once finished, shut this front window and save the changes by clicking the “OK” button.

To view the following window, open outlook.office.com and log into your Outlook exchange account. To create an email on the Outlook web version, click this “New Email” button.

A new window will open when you click the “New Email” button, allowing you to construct your message and attach files or include text, as I’ve done in the example below. The text from the email that follows will be highlighted in the next section.
Step 3>
You must choose the text you wish to cross out in your Outlook email before you can mark it as crossed out. In a similar vein, I’ve highlighted some material in the sample email below that we should cross out.
Step 4>
Once the text has been selected, look around the email window’s toolbar. As seen in the following image, you will see a “Strikethrough” button slightly beyond the options for bold, italic, and underlining. To cross out the text you have selected, click this button.
Step 5>
The Outlook web version’s text crossing-out process is far too brief, as evidenced by the image below, whereby our chosen text has been crossed out with only a single click of the strikethrough button.

As you can see, in the example below, which we will create normally, the highlighted content has already been crossed off.

First, go through your email and select every text that has been crossed off.

Next, select the “Format Text” option from the menu bar. The strikethrough button is located there, as indicated in the picture below. To restore your text to normal, simply click on it once.
